It’s been a little bit since we saw a prominent mock draft project Louisville offensive tackle Mekhi Becton to the Cleveland Browns in the first round. In most contemporary mocks, Becton is off the board before the Browns get a chance to draft him with their top pick.
That changes in Draft Wire’s recent update. Their latest 3-round mock draft reverts to old favorite Becton at the No. 10 pick.
The Browns are in a perfect spot to address their biggest need and get ideal value at this spot. Any of the top four offensive tackle prospects would be a fantastic pick for Cleveland … Becton’s arrival would allow the newly signed Jack Conklin to stay at his comfortable right tackle spot.
Georgia’s Andrew Thomas goes one pick later at No. 11. Houston’s Josh Jones is the projected pick at No. 18.
In the second and third rounds, Draft Wire also brings up some familiarly mocked names for the Browns. The second-round pick is LSU safety Grant Delpit, while the third round brings Kentucky OL Logan Sternberg and Appalachian State LB Akeem Davis-Gaither. Delpit has been a frequent projection as the team’s second-rounder after getting some nods in the first round during the season.
