The worst fears of every NBA fan across the globe could become alive. With the league suspended since March 11 due to the sudden outbreak of COVID-19, there is a chance that the 2019-20 season could be straight-up canceled altogether.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported late Friday night that the league is very pessimistic that they can resume. They point to China’s struggles to restart the CBA after they had an initial restart date of mid-April, but they then had to postpone that after the Chinese government issued an order that restricted all group sporting events until further notice.
All of that could potentially just cancel the rest of the NBA season and try to start anew in the 2020-21 season.

This would absolutely cripple the league financially as the salary cap would drop significantly for the future. The most likely scenario for the NBA is that they will try and hold out for as long as they can before making a decision. There is too much money involved to make this decision right now. They will have to wait and see if the situation gets better. [lawrence-related id=28817,28799,28780]
