We’ve got a new name mocked to the Raiders in the first round! With less than three weeks until the first night of the NFL Draft, there are more names showing up as possible selections for the Raiders at both picks No. 12 and No. 19.
In a recent mock draft by Charles Davis of the NFL Network, he mocked TCU defensive tackle Ross Blacklock to the Raiders at pick No. 19 after selecting receiver CeeDee Lamb earlier in the round. Take a look at why Dais believes Blacklock would be an ideal fit in Paul Guenther’s defense:
Possessing a nice combination of aggressiveness, quickness and big plays upfield, Blacklock’s overall makeup fits the type of player Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden covet.
Defensive tackle is a sneaky long-term need for the Raiders as Maliek Collins signed just a one-year deal with this offseason. However, Blacklock feels like a reach at this point in the draft.
Blacklock played just two seasons at TCU after tearing his Achilles in 2018. But he returned in 2019, recording just nine tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks in 12 games for the Horned Frogs. He did run an incredible 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine (4.90), but he had subpar agility and explosion for a defensive lineman.
If the Raiders decide to trade down at some point in the first round, Blacklock would make some sense. But given that they currently have two top-20 picks, picking Blacklock with either selection feels rich.
