Louis Riddick has funny take for why Jameis Winston fits with Patriots

Riddick thinks that Belichick and Winston would be a great piar in New England.

Could New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick and free agent quarterback Jameis Winston be a match made in heaven? One ESPN analyst thinks so.

Louis Riddick believes that tough love from Belichick is something that Winston needs at this point in his career. Winston threw for 33 touchdown passes and 30 interceptions last season. In doing so, he earned the dubious distinction of being a part of the 30-for-30 club.

Winston is one of the hot commodities in the quarterback market during free agency. The strictness of Belichick could be something that helps Winston turn his career around. Riddick indicated that he did not think the Patriots would sign him. However, he did say that the strict mentality could benefit Winston greatly.

“Because, you know, up there they don’t play when it comes to that kind of thing. You turn over a football there, Bill will cut you in the middle of a game. He will probably tell you to go in the locker room and get undressed and just go ahead and get an Uber and get out of town. That’s the kind of place he needs to go to.”

With New England releasing Cody Kessler earlier on Wednesday, the Patriots could use another quarterback in the room. One has to think that if Winston came to New England, he would be the starter. It is certainly an interesting proposition to think about.
