Chargers have video meeting with Houston OT Josh Jones

The Los Angeles Chargers could be looking to draft someone to compete for the left tackle job.

The Chargers solidified the right tackle position with the acquisition of Bryan Bulaga. However, the left tackle spot remains a mystery at the moment.

Possibly looking to shore up the spot in the upcoming draft, Los Angeles has a FaceTime meeting set up with former Houston tackle Josh Jones, according to Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson.

The 6-foot-5 and 319 pounder is a mirroring magician in pass protection and a bulldozer in the run blocking department. Jones is a smooth mover, who has the length and hand usage to keep defenders out in front of him, as well as the athleticism to get out in space.

Jones allowed only 28 total pressures over the last three years, including just four last season, per Pro Football Focus.

If drafted, Jones would fight for the starting job with Trey Pipkins and Trent Scott in Year 1. Jones has the tools, talent and durability to stay in the starting lineup for years to come.

Jones currently projects as a late first-round-early second-round selection.
