Jorge Masvidal deems Colby Covington ‘the most fragile, most sensitive guy in UFC history’

American Top Team recently implemented a no trash-talk policy, but it doesn’t seem like Jorge Masvidal will comply.

The beef between [autotag]Jorge Masvidal[/autotag] and [autotag]Colby Covington[/autotag] is well-documented at this point.

Once friends, the two top UFC welterweight contenders have become bitter rivals. This was most recently exemplified by a tweet posted by Masvidal (35-13 MMA, 12-6 UFC) on Tuesday. In the span of 245 characters, Masvidal blasted Covington (15-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC), calling the former UFC title challenger a “crotch sniffer” and “the most fragile most sensitive guy in UFC history.”

The tweet was a response to a recently implemented policy at American Top Team, the home of both fighters. According to gym owner Dan Lambert, fighters on the team will no longer be permitted to talk trash to one another unless there is a pending bout agreement between them.

In his tweet, Masvidal said he’s still allowed to talk trash to Covington, since he doesn’t consider Covington a fighter. “Can’t kick me out cause this rule was for fighters only,” Masvidal wrote. “Not crotch sniffers that get their jaw broken by other crotch sniffers.”

Neither Masvidal nor Covington has competed yet in 2020. Masvidal defeated Nate Diaz by doctor’s stoppage in the inaugural “BMF” title fight at UFC 244 in November. One month later, Covington lost to UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman by fifth-round TKO at UFC 245.

The end results of the two fights sets up a summer showdown between Usman and Masvidal. Where Covington fits in the current 170-pound title picture is yet to be determined.
