Ohio State gains former Oklahoma running back via transfer

Much to the chagrin of the maize and blue faithful, the Buckeyes have gained a key piece to bolster a depleted corps.

Well, Michigan fans who had hoped that the Buckeyes running back situation could help the maize and blue come November this year — your wish just all but evaporated.

The Wolverines’ arch-rival, Ohio State, lost star J.K. Dobbins to the NFL Draft, and then an injury seemed to have sidelined heir apparent Master Teague this spring. But OSU continues to add pieces, even with visits and recruiting in a standstill due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, with a former four-star who’s shown strong capability with a perennial College Football Playoff program.

Taking to Twitter, former Oklahoma running back Trey Sermon, who has 2,076 yards rushing on 339 carries (6.1 yards-per-carry) with 22 rushing touchdowns has committed to Ohio State, coming aboard as a transfer.

Sermon is a grad transfer, and thus will be eligible to play for the Buckeyes immediately, meaning, yes, he will be available for The Game in Columbus this year.
