The start to the 2020 college football season is a long way and looking at the current state of the world with COVID-19, hopefully, the season will go on as planned.

However, there is some hope and something to look forward to those who like to place wagers on college football. Betting is becoming more and more prevalent across the country there are more gaming books popping up online and one of the latest comes from Fox which has a FoxBet website and they have a few early 2020 odds.

There are two Mountain West games are able to be bet on and they both are Boise State games. They both are non-conference games with Florida State traveling to Alberston’s Stadium on Sept. 19 and the Broncos are a slim 1.5-point favorite against the ACC foe.

The other one is budding rival BYU, also in Boise, and the Broncos are a solid six-point favorite over the Cougars.

With spring practices basically on ice, it is hard to get an educated guess on how good these teams are. As for Florida State, they have a new head coach in Mike Norvell who is coming in from a successful stint at Memphis and is taking over for the Willie Taggart era which ended after two years.

Boise State fans may want to look at the style of play Memphis used over the past few years to get an idea of what to expect. The Tigers scored a lot of points and averaged over 40 points per game over the past three years, and in Norvell’s first year the team averaged 38.8 points per game. It is up in the air what talent the Seminoles and if that type of offense can be replicated early on.

Looking at BYU, they have a stable staff on hand with Kalani Sitake entering his fifth year and his record vs. the Broncos is just 1-3 but last year saw the Cougars pull off an upset of a then-undefeated Boise State team.

One of the biggest questions for BYU is who will be the quarterback for the Cougars. Spring football was to have an open quarterback competition between Zach Wilson, Gunner Romney, and Jaren Hall. All three played last year due to mostly these players getting injured and springtime was to make a pecking order.

As for Boise State, their spring was to find replacements for players like Curtis Weaver, seeing a fully healthy Hank Bachmeier under center and looking for someone to take over for the John Hightower role.

Until we know more information, we have these favorable odds for Boise State as it prepares for the 2020 season.
