NFL sets 2020 salary cap at $198.2 million

The NFL has set the 2020 salary cap at $198.2 million, falling short of the $200M projection and representing an increase of just 5.3%.

Mere moments after NFL players voted to approve ratification of the new collective bargaining agreement, the NFL Management Council announced that the 2020 salary cap will be set at $198.2 million, falling short of the $200-plus million number many had anticipated.

At $198.2 million, that represents just a 5.3% increase over the salary cap from a season ago, marking the smallest overall increase since 2013.

Here’s a look at the cap numbers dating back to 2014:

  • 2014: $133.0M
  • 2015: $143.3M
  • 2016: $155.3M
  • 2017: $167.0M
  • 2018: 177.3M
  • 2019: $188.2M

According to Over the Cap, the New York Giants will have $78,435,117 in available salary cap space once the new league year begins. That is the fifth-most available space in the NFL.
