Giants waive OT George Asafo-Adjei

The New York Giants have waived OT George Asafo-Adjei, a 2019 seventh-round pick, with a failed physical.

The New York Giants announced they have waived second-year offensive tackle George Asafo-Adjei this week after he failed a physical.

“Big George” as he is known, was one of two seventh round picks by the Giants in last year’s NFL Draft. The Kentucky product who faced off against All-American edge rusher Josh Allen everyday in college was due back with the rest of the roster on April 6. That will not happen now.

The news is a bit of a blow for the Giants, who are in need of offensive tackle help. Although Asafo-Adjei was a seventh round pick, the Giants were ready to give him a shot to make the roster at either tackle or at guard this summer but will now have to go in a different direction.

Heading into free agency next week, the Giants’ tackle situation is dire with the aging Nate Solder on the left side, unproven Nick Gates on the right side and only Chad Slade, Eric Smith and Nate Wozniak under contract.
