Boston Celtics rookies Tacko Fall and Tremont Waters each played on assignment in the G League Wednesday but were unable to lift the Maine Red Claws to victory over the Delaware Blue Coats.
Fall scored 12 points and 14 rebounds in the 113-92 loss while Waters recorded just five points on 2-of-10 shooting from the field, including 1-of-4 from 3-point range. The Red Claws trailed by as many as 34 points in the defeat and never seriously challenged after the second period.
Fall registered his 18th double-double of the season in the G League but struggled for much of the game. He had just six points on 3-of-9 shooting through the first three-quarters of play but bounced back in the final period when most of Blue Coats’ starters left the game.

The performance by Fall came just three days after nearly recording his first career triple-double with 16 points, 14 rebounds and nine blocks. Meanwhile, Waters has now failed to score in double digits in each of his last three games after failing to do so only three times previously this season.
With just eight games left in the G League regular season, Fall and Waters, who are both signed to two-way contracts, will each likely finish out the season with the Red Claws before re-joining the Celtics. Once the G League season concludes, two-way contract service time no longer counts.
The Red Claws play next on Friday against the Raptors 905.
