Giants green light a Super Bowl ring replacement for Steve Weatherford

The New York Giants have given the go-ahead for Tiffany & Co. to replace Steve Wetaherford’s stolen Super Bowl XLVI ring.

Earlier this week, retired New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford revealed that his Super Bowl XLVI ring had been stolen out of his vehicle along with several other items, including his wife’s purse, which is where his ring had briefly resided following a speaking engagement.

“No, it’s not a joke⁣,” Weatherford wrote in a Facebook post. “Recently, a string of car break-ins happened in my neighborhood — all in one night, eight cars were broken into.

“I gave my ring to my wife the night before after speaking at an event, she put it in her purse, and… Well, if anyone sees a Super Bowl XLVI ring on eBay with a name largely engraved on the side –⁣ WEATHERFORD (spelled like that) — kindly text me.

“I’m hoping Mr. Mara reads this, and has the kindness in his heart to ask Tiffany & Co. to dig up that glorious 2012 mold, make me a replacement Super Bowl ring to give to my son one day.

“P.S. Mr Mara, I’m insured, I got the loot I just need permission.

“Super Bowl ring or not,⁣ I am champion, not by my accomplishments but by the choices I make and the God I serve.

“P.S.S. Mr. Neighborhood Robber Man, I hope you tried that ring on, I hope it brings favor to your life the same way it has for other people the past 6.5 years I’ve had possession of it. It wasn’t my hand that won it, but I’d like your hand to wear it.”

Although Weatherford’s ring has not been recovered, this story will have a happy ending when all is said and done.

TMZ Sports reports that the Giants have given the green light for Tiffany & Co. to mint a new Super Bowl ring for Weatherford using the original mold.

The New York Giants tells us they will allow Tiffany & Co. to make a replacement Super Bowl 46 ring for Weatherford.

Remember, the former Giants punter has insurance on the missing ring … but isn’t allowed to get a replacement without the green light from NYG ownership.

According to the team, that ain’t a problem … ’cause the G-Men tell us they’re actively working on getting in touch with Steve, and are down to make him a replacement.

Giants fans are encouraged to keep an eye out for Weatherford’s original bling, but for now, he’ll get a replacement.
