The Denver Broncos have agreed to trade a fourth-round draft pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for cornerback A.J. Bouye. The trade will not become official until the new league year begins on March 18.
Here’s a sampling of how Twitter reacted to the news:
The A.J. Bouye trade – for a fourth-rounder – is as good a trade as any #NFL team can make at this stage of the offseason. Brilliant move by John Elway and the #Broncos. pic.twitter.com/o7xBQ0ynNy

Said it a month ago — Denver Broncos are my Most Improved Team of 2020. They just signed Jags stud CB A.J. Bouye. Only gave up a mid round draft pick. 💪 Here we go.

A 4th? Really like that trade for Denver. Bouye was down last season, but just 28 years old and 3 straight good seasons before 2019, including 10 picks.
Very good tackling corner too, which is a must for Fangio https://t.co/EVBwYzGGFt

AJ Bouye to me on the phone: "I'm on the way to get my kids, I get a phone call from (Dave) Caldwell, saying he appreciates everything I did for the team. Then Elway calls me, saying welcome to Denver. Now everyone is calling, I'm just finding out. I want to thank Jacksonville."

An interesting note. The Broncos No Fly Zone really thought very highly of A.J. Bouye a few years back before Bouye broke out in Houston. Aqib Talib, who worked out with Bouye, actually predicted he was going to blow up and he did exactly that. https://t.co/v2lzpoYcz8

This #Broncos trade for AJ Bouye is interesting. Obviously out on Byron Jones, but plenty of other options in free agency. Amukamara might be a good addition still. Maybe offensive line. Things are getting interesting #BroncosCountry

Many #Broncos fans didn’t know this but the team had Bryce Callahan playing on the outside at Training Camp. If they can re-sign Chris Harris Jr, it’s likely that Bouye/Callahan are outside, CHJR in slot. Likely indicating Will Parks to another team seems more realistic.

A.J. Bouye's PFF coverage grades:
2017: 84.7 (10th)
2018: 79.3 (13th)
2019: 55.4 (73rd)Broncos buying low🤔 pic.twitter.com/xMEWnpoGld

One thing to keep in mind before you get down on the Bouye trade is that Darius Slay's charting numbers were kind of down in Detroit, but he can definitely ball.
Tape will be important, but Elway clearly chose Bouye over Slay and Jones, who were considered superior by most.

Bouye, I'm told was the target for Denver all along. He's seen as the best fit for Vic Fangio's defense.
Decent deal for Denver too. It sends JAX the fourth-round pick it acquired in the Emmanuel Sanders trade last season.

I wrote about @ChrisHarrisJr extensively yesterday. He hasn't ruled out coming back. And this doesn't mean it's over. But reality is he'd have to take less. Not sure how that happens given the robust market for him right now. I never say never. But the math is the math. #Denver7

I know everyone is quick to assume that the Bouye trade means Chris Harris is done in Denver until his Ring of Fame ceremony, but I’m not sure that’s the case. The team still wants to be in the mix when the market opens for CHJ. #BroncosCountry @KOAColorado

As many fans and pundits noted on Twitter, it will be interesting to see how Denver moves forward with pending free agent Chris Harris. There’s still a chance that Harris will re-sign with the Broncos, but that’s beginning to seem less likely after the team acquired Bouye.
