Report: Broncos had ‘positive’ meeting with Derek Wolfe’s agent

The Broncos had a positive meeting with Derek Wolfe’s agent at the NFL combine.

The Denver Broncos had a “positive” meeting with Derek Wolfe’s agent at the NFL combine this week, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis.

Andrew Kessler, who represents Wolfe, met with Denver to discuss his client’s pending free agency status. It’s hard to imagine a meeting that resulted in a breakup being described as positive so the Broncos presumably have some interest in bringing Wolfe back.

Wolfe (6-5, 285 pounds) was selected by the Broncos in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft out of Cincinnati. He has emerged as one of the team’s best defensive linemen since then, totaling 299 tackles and 33 sacks.

Wolfe had a career year under Vic Fangio in 2019 before suffering an elbow injury. Healthy for 12 games, Wolfe piled up a career-high seven sacks and forced the first fumble of his career last season.

Entering his ninth season in the NFL, the 30-year-old Wolfe still appears to have some gas left in the tank. Re-signing him would be a welcomed move by many Broncos fans.
