Demetrius Harris wasn’t a free agent for long. Less than 36 hours after being unceremoniously dumped by the Cleveland Browns, Harris has agreed to join the Chicago Bears.
Harris was the Browns’ starting tight end for most of 2019, his only year in Cleveland. He came to the Browns from Kansas City, and the Chiefs are his connection to the Bears. Chicago head coach Matt Nagy was a Chiefs offensive assistant while Harris played for the Chiefs in 2014-2017.
The veteran tight end disappointed in his brief Browns stint. He caught 15 passes for 149 yards and three TDs. While that was a modest total, it would have led all Bears TEs in receiving yards in 2019.
