After having seen him for four years in Ann Arbor, Michigan fans are well aware what kind of force Michael Onwenu can be on the offensive line.
This past year was his best, as he consistently drew rave reviews from outlets such as scouting website Pro Football Focus. He looked to continue his forward progress in the all-star showcase, the East-West Shrine Game, on Saturday.
You could say mission accomplished, as his offensive line teammate Jon Runyan Jr. was moved inside to guard. But Onwenu was the one who truly was garnering praise.
Various NFL watchers weighed in on Twitter to share their thoughts while watching the East-West Shrine Game as it took place down in Tampa, Florida.
The battles between URI OG Kyle Murphy/MI OG Mike Onwenu and Utah DST John Penisini are fun to watch.

Hit the boat horn, @JeffRisdon was right again. Onwenu has a great series capped with a road grading block to seal a touchdown. Michigan fans can be proud of his showing so far. #ShrineBowl

I’ve been very impressed with Michael Onwenu at the @ShrineBowl
A massive 362 lb man, he fits the right guard prototype for the #Seahawks
Quick feet in pass pro, heavy hands and just an immovable object. Perfect DJ Fluker understudy #ShrineBowl pic.twitter.com/0Lj99APpZw

But, beyond that, the 362-pound right guard really showed how powerful he could be, helping spring this touchdown for his team.
Nice job by Williams and Owenu to create this big hole for Benny Lemay pic.twitter.com/amPewHFmAc

Along with Runyan and Onwenu, Lavert Hill and Michael Danna are participating in the NFL showcase.
