With the season over for the Arizona Cardinals, it is officially draft season. It is early but it is still draft season and so mock drafts begin to matter.
At this point, mock drafts mostly try to match talent with needs, as the evaluation of prospects is still a work in progress.
In the latest mock draft from Draft Wire managing editor Luke Easterling, the Cardinals address three needs in the first three rounds.
Here are the picks:
- Round 1, pick 8: Oklahoma WR CeeDee Lamb
- Round 2, pick 8: Auburn OT Prince Tega Wanagho
- Round 3, pick 8: Nebraska CB Lamar Jackson
The Lamb pick will be the subject of a lot of discussion. In this mock draft, with the eighth pick, Lamb, Alabama receiver Jerry Jeudy, Georgia tackle Andrew Thomas and Iowa tackle Tristan Wirfs are all available.
If this scenario plays out and the Cardinals have these four players all on the board. they will have their choice of the top two tackles and top two receivers in many people’s opinion.
Tega Wanagho is a 6-foot-7, 304-pound tackle who is still raw.
Jackson is a long cornerback at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds. He had five interceptions in the last two seasons for the Cornhuskers.
