Bills defensive end Jerry Hughes is known for his sacks. But on Tuesday, the 31-year-old gave a reminder that he’s also known for another thing. An iron man streak
Hughes has played seven seasons with the Bills since he was traded to Buffalo from the Indianapolis Colts. He’s the current longest-tenured member of the team.
In that time, the Bills have played in 114 games and he has never missed a single one, 2019 included, and we found out on Tuesday that comes despite a wrist injury he played through this season.
Hughes never appeared on the Bills’ injury report this season with a wrist aliment, but Hughes posted to his social media on Tuesday about it, citing torn ligaments in it.
Hughes mentions the injury in this rundown he gave of the Bills season:

Also on Tuesday, Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott was asked about Hughes’ injury at his end of season press conference.
The coach certainly downplayed the injury, but perhaps was trying not to get in trouble, either. Hughes never once appeared on the Bills’ weekly injury report this season with an injury. That, plus Hughes’ tweet indicating the injury was a long-term one of sorts, could be some foul play in the NFL’s eyes. But McDermott did make sure to mention that Hughes actually did, in a way, appear on the reports throughout the year.
“We’re still working through the medical [process], the final medical report on that. We’ll see how it goes,” McDermott said on Hughes’ diagnosis.
“He was on the injury report [this season]… it was not in relation to his wrist.” McDermott added. “He was on the injury report for his groin then another time just… overall for veteran rest.”
Hughes finished his season with 23 tackles, 4.5 sacks and three passes defended. And again, of course, in 16 games played.
