Shortly after the Buccaneers’ Week 10 win over the Arizona Cardinals, the team cut cornerback Vernon Hargreaves, who got benched during the game for a lack of hustle on this play.
#Bucs HC Bruce Arians said he benched CB Vernon Hargreaves (#28) on Sunday because he didn't "hustle" trying to make a tackle. Today, Hargreaves was waived.

Hargreaves’ departure brought an end to a rather uneventful tenure in Tampa Bay for the former Florida Gator, who was selected by the Bucs with the 11th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Fortunately, for Tampa Bay, their defense came on strong in the second half of the season, so the loss of Hargreaves didn’t seem to hurt them in the long run. And, according to Bleacher Report’s latest 2020 mock draft, it seems the Bucs could take a chance on another Florida cornerback, this time in CJ Henderson.
Henderson stands at 6-foot-1, 202 pounds, so his size would be a welcome addition to the Tampa Bay secondary. The Bucs’ pass defense finished 30th in the league this season, allowing 270.1 yards per game. Their rush defense, however, was tops in the NFL, giving up an average of just 73.8 yards on the ground.
For those wondering what Henderson could bring to the table, here is a highlight video to give you an idea.
The Buccaneers currently hold the No. 14 pick in April’s draft after a 7-9 finish.
