Vikings have yet another gem in Anthony Harris

Harris finished the regular season tied for the league lead with six interceptions

In 2015, the Minnesota Vikings signed Anthony Harris as an undrafted free agent, and it’s looking like he is one of the better players to come out of that class. After his 2019 season, it will be a critical offseason move for the Vikings to re-sign Harris.

Leading up to the Wild Card game against the Saints, a lot was said about how the Saints don’t tend to turn the ball over.

Harris had other plans, making a great play on the ball and getting the rare interception off Drew Brees in the second quarter. The Vikings ended up scoring a touchdown off the interception.

This was a great play on the ball by Harris, but he has proven in the regular season that the lights aren’t too bright for him. He has consistently played at an elite level in 2019, and it seems to have carried over into the playoffs.

Harris finished the regular season tied for the league lead with six interceptions, and as PFF’s top-rated safety. His counterpart, Harrison Smith, finished as PFF’s third-best safety.

Retaining the undrafted ball-hawk and making sure this tandem stays together for years to come should be a priority this offseason for the Vikings.
