In a game where the Texas Longhorns defense looked outmatched, Joseph Ossai rose to the challenge in the Valero Alamo Bowl. Texas limited an offense that averaged 34 points per game to just 10 on Tuesday night in San Antonio. The defense played on another level by limiting the impact by the Pac 12 co-offensive players of the year.
A swarming defense led by sophomore linebacker Ossai kept Tyler Huntley and Zack Moss at bay all night long. Ossai recorded a career high three sacks of Huntley. It was a display that many fans and media alike hadn’t seen much of this year. Joseph Ossai only played in seven games a season as a reserve before being the man at linebacker this year.
His play gives the Longhorns something to build upon heading into 2020, that kind of performance could help Texas as they look to finish out the 2020 recruiting class in February. The Alamo Bowl defensive MVP will be looking to carry this momentum into 2020 and put the Longhorns defense back on the map after an inconsistent 2019. With new defensive coordinator Chris Ash joining the team next season, his performance had to impress his new coach as they look to take the fight to Oklahoma for Big 12 supremacy.
