New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch has been venting publicly (and privately) for weeks about the state of the franchise, reportedly calling for a major overhaul this offseason.
In the end, the final decision of the team was to fire head coach Pat Shurmur and little else. Hardly a major overhaul.
Despite that, Tisch insists that he and fellow co-owner John Mara were in complete agreement about their offseason approach and had been discussing it for weeks.
However, Tisch did vow to make a personal change, noting that he will make a significant effort to be more physically present in East Rutherford while engaging more frequently with Mara.
“I am involved, but I would like to be more involved. I will become more involved,” Tisch told reporters on Monday. “[John and I] have a great dialog with each other. It’s a very, very functional working relationship. Partnerships are hard — professional ones and domestic ones. But I feel we have a very good one and we always — with some differences of opinions expressed and communicated — we get to the same point.
“I will be here more psychically, but the opportunities that John and I spend with each other in the same building, in the same stadium or the same locker room will increase.”
An award-winning American film producer and businessman, Tisch often finds himself working in Hollywood with the Giants seeming like somewhat of an afterthought, but that will now change.
What that means for the day-to-day operations of the Giants remains to be seen, but the team’s co-owners are now going to be front and center moving forward as they attempt to stop this sinking ship from taking on even more water.
