Nothing to gain and nothing to lose, but the Bills’ starters could still see the field in Week 17 against the Jets.
Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott said on Monday that he and general manager Brandon Beane and still deciding what to do.
There’s a certainly a lot of things to consider. A lot of things for Brandon and myself to weigh. Some of it is the injuries, some of it is us improving as a football team. So, we’re still working through that and then the team’s not in today so we’ll be back tomorrow. So, we’ll continue to work through that as a team and go from there,” McDermott said.
The coach mentioned on he knows regardless of his choice, he’s going to be under the microscope.
“I’ve been a part of resting guys before. I’ve watched other teams having played their guys, so I’ve been around some of it before. And you’re always going to get second guessed and some people are going to be with you, some people are going to be in terms of, ‘hey you should be doing this versus what they’re doing,’ or I agree with what they’re doing. And certainly, that’s what happens. And so, we have to do what we feel this is best for this team and we’ll do that. I’m confident we’ve done that to this point,” McDermott said.
If the Bills do decide to play their starters, they should not for more than a series or two. Buffalo has nothing to gain and plenty to lose by sending Josh Allen and the rest of their No.1 players out on the field in Week 17.
