When the season first started, hopes were high for Tua Tagovailoa to win the Heisman, and for the Crimson Tide to win a National Championship.
Few would’ve imagined that Alabama would suffer a two loss season, lose their star quarterback for the remainder of the season, and miss the CFB Playoff for the first time since the Playoff came into existence in 2014.
But, in all honesty, this has responded with a lot of perseverance, determination, and grit. They’ve shown they aren’t going down without a fight, and this season isn’t over yet. Even after losing the Iron Bowl, the Alabama Crimson Tide has stayed laser focused on proving what this team is capable of in the Citrus Bowl against Michigan on January 1st.

Starting quarterback Mac Jones had this to say about the team in a press conference earlier this week,
“They want to play in every game and they’re team guys,” he said. “At Alabama, we’re trying to win championships, yes. But they want to play in every game and do the best they can for themselves and their families, and for their teammates around them. There’s no doubt in my mind those guys were gonna play and they are gonna play.”
This says a lot about this team. Although Terrell Lewis and Trevon Diggs have opted out of the bowl game, so far, everyone else has chosen to play. While there are opinions on both sides with whether it’s a good or bad idea for those entering the 2020 NFL Draft, I think it says more about the dynamic behind the team unit.
They’ve endured a lot, but never gave up. Even when Tua Tagovailoa suffered a season ending injury, the Crimson Tide responded with a determination to finish what they started, and to play for Tua.
Sure, winning another National Championship would be nice, but these guys have created a brotherhood, a team unity, an Ohana. And they’re wanting to finish the season strong. Even though they aren’t playing in the Playoffs, this team still has a lot to play for: each other. And that in and of itself, is priceless.
