On Friday night, Ohio State edge rusher Chase Young crushed the soul of New York Giants fans everywhere, telling TMZ Sports that his “plan” was to return to college in 2020, bypassing the NFL Draft for at least one more year.
“That’s the plan,” Young told TMZ Sports.
However, with a day or so to think about it, Young backed off those “plans” and clarified his statements, claiming he was taken aback by the questioning and was essentially caught off guard.
“That moment was just a real spontaneous moment. It caught me off guard,” Young told Dan Hope of 11W. “I’m not even really worried about anything in the future. I’m just worried about beating Clemson right now.”
Still, Young says he has no plan about his future right now, which is a similar sentiment to the one he shared with other reporters on Friday afternoon — prior to the TMZ Sports interview.
“I just got to talk about it with my family and just pray. I feel like God will tell me the answer,” Young said on Friday, via the New York Post.
Given the money Young stands to make, it would hard to believe he’d pass up the opportunity to be a top 3 draft pick only to return to OSU for another season.
