Joe Burrow shines as LSU routs Georgia for SEC title

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow’s impressive performance in the SEC title game could be just the beginning of his big accomplishments

Heisman Trophy, national championship, No. 1 overall pick.

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow has a chance to take home that rare trifecta, and he took the next step in that direction with his outstanding performance in Saturday’s 37-10 blowout win over Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.

Burrow completed 28 of his 38 passes for 349 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions as the Tigers remained undefeated on the season, locking up a berth in the College Football Playoff.

Heading into Saturday night’s big game, Burrow already had a sterling Heisman resume, completing nearly 80 percent of his passes for 4,366 yards, 44 touchdowns and just six interceptions. The numbers he put up against the SEC’s top defense Saturday night only strengthen his case to take home college football’s most prestigious individual honor.

As a pro prospect, Burrow the complete skill set to be an elite franchise quarterback at the next level. His rare ability was on full display Saturday night, as Burrow’s combination of poise, accuracy, athleticism and decision-making allowed him to carve up the Bulldogs through and air and on the ground.

The Cincinnati Bengals currently lead the chase for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft, and they’ll no doubt be looking for a new quarterback to replace Andy Dalton. Burrow is absolutely worthy of being next year’s top pick, and Bengals fans should feel comfortable ordering those custom jerseys after his showing in Atlanta.
