Falcons promote DE Austin Larkin to active roster

Defensive ends Vic Beasley and Takk McKinley have combined for 3.5 sacks since Week 10, but Atlanta may be without McKinley, who was ruled questionable for Week 12.

The Falcons struggled to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks during their first eight games, but have suddenly turned things around over the last two weeks.

Defensive ends Vic Beasley and Takk McKinley have combined for 3.5 sacks since Week 10, but Atlanta may be without McKinley, who was ruled questionable for Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers.

The team released guard Sean Harlow and signed defensive end Austin Larkin from the practice squad to its active roster.

Larkin has yet to play in an NFL regular season game but was impressive during the preseason with the Falcons. The 24-year-old former Purdue standout should finally make his NFL debut against the Bucs.

Harlow will likely be re-signed to the practice squad as his release was more about the team needing to add depth to its defensive line with McKinley questionable and Adrian Clayborn dinged up.

Atlanta will look to win its third straight game in Week 12, and opened as a 4.5-point favorite over Tampa Bay.
