Stepped up in big game in college
In September when Davis and UCF had their meeting with Stanford, it was a game that the wideout long had circled on his calendar all year.
In that outing, Stanford sported a top prospect of their own, cornerback Paulson Adebo. Those two went head-to-head in the meeting. Davis took care of him with four catches on seven targets with 63 yards and a touchdown.
Adebo should feel lucky, too. Davis had a 38-yard touchdown catch in the game, but had an earlier 41-yard score erased because Davis’s foot was deemed out of bounds on his route and the score was called back. With the Orlando Sentinel, Davis said the week prior to the game he game into the team’s facilities before dawn to watch film on Adebo.
“Watching a lot of film on him, I knew how I could beat him,” Davis said. “I knew it was an opportunity for me to show that I can play with anybody I step in front of.”
Adebo eventually decided to return to Stanford for his senior season so you probably haven’t heard his name much in the year’s pre-draft process. Maybe Davis is a reason why…
