Helped himself at the combine

In a twist, the Bills actually drafted a guy in the fourth round that helped his stock at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine. While second-round pick AJ Epenesa and third-round pick Zack Moss didn’t have great workouts, Davis did.

His numbers weren’t eye popping by any means, but they were good, all things considered. With his big frame, Davis showed NFL teams that he can move around the field better than some might expect. Because of this, CBS Sports put him in the same category of some highly-touted wideout prospects such as Notre Dame’s Chase Claypool and Baylor’s Denzel Mims.

The outlet labeled him one of the “winners” of the combine:

Gabriel Davis, UCF. Davis quietly had a very strong workout, posting 4.54 in the 40 with a 35-inch vertical, 124-inch broad and a decently fast 7.08 in the three cone. He thrived down the field at UCF and now we know he has early-round athleticism for the receiver position.
