Punch, ejection and the bird
The Bills appear to have added a guy in Butler that plays with a bit of an edge, to say the least. Last season he had the best year of his career, but perhaps the biggest blemish as well.
Against the Colts in December, Butler got tied up after a play with Indy offensive lineman Mark Glowinski. On the play, Colts tight end Jack Doyle was also rolling around in the pile. Things didn’t escalate very far, so looking back it’s kind of humorous. But Butler rolled around and accidentally took a swing at the wrong guy because he got caught up in emotion and was perhaps dizzy from rolling around.
In a less humorous way, after he was ejected from the game for the situation, Butler gestured his middle finger toward a fan as he left the field. He did apologize after and per Panthers Wire, was fined.
“It was a bang bang play. A little extra going on, it wasn’t the guy that I intended to hit,” Butler said after the game. “I shouldn’t have hit anybody in the first place. That’s not me, my character. I want to apologize to this organization for one (and) to my teammates.”
