With free agency set to begin in just a few days, the NFL is about to be shaken up in a big way with so many star players about to hit the open market. That, in itself, will have a significant impact on the way the 2020 NFL Draft plays.
Today, we are taking a look at one final mock draft before free agency begins on Monday. We are looking at the latest 7-round mock draft by Luke Easterling of the Draft Wire to see what type of haul the Raiders could bring in with all of their selections.
12. Jerry Jeudy | WR | Alabama
19. Kenneth Murray | LB | Oklahoma
80. Kyle Dugger | S | Lenoir-Rhyne
81. Damien Lewis | OL | LSU
91. Darnay Holmes | CB | UCLA
121. Antonio Gandy-Golden | WR | Liberty
226. Tyler Clark | DL | Georgia
In this mock draft, the Raiders were able to address their two biggest needs in the first round by selecting wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and linebacker Kenneth Murray. Both are among the fastest players at their position and would be Day 1 starters for the Raiders. It’s hard to see a scenario playing out better for Las Vegas on the first day of the draft.
On Day 2, the Raiders grab SS Kyle Dugger, who could make the transition to linebacker in the NFL. At 6’1 and 217 pounds, Dugger ran a 4.49 40-yard dash and was one of the most explosive players in the class with a 42 inch vertical. Landing him at pick No. 80 would be a home-run selection.
Another notable selection for the Raiders is wide receiver Antonio Gandy-Golden from Liberty. While he isn’t overly fast, he wins down the field with his size and leaping ability. He may not project as a No. 1 receiver in the NFL, but he has enough talent to potentially push Tyrell Williams off the roster by the 2021 season.
Overall, this is a very solid mock draft for the Raiders as they are able to grab a number of starters at key positions. If the draft were to play out like this for Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden in late April, they would have to be thrilled with this haul.
