On Monday, the 2020-21 NBA All-Defensive Teams were announced as Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert and Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons were unanimous First Team selections.

Joining Gobert and Simmons on the First Team were Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, Milwaukee Bucks guard Jrue Holiday and forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. Gobert, who was named the Defensive Player of the Year, earned First Team honors for a fifth straight season.

Miami Heat forward Bam Adebayo and guard Jimmy Butler, 76ers center Joel Embiid and guard Matisse Thybulle, and Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard were each named to the Second Team. The results mark the second time that the 76ers have had three players named to All-Defensive teams.

In addition to having three players recognized, Thybulle also made a little bit more history.

According to Lauren Rosen of Sixers.com, Thybulle became the 26th player in NBA history to make an All-Defensive team within his first two seasons in the league. He received 57 Second Team votes and three First Team votes, placing ahead of Leonard. Last year, he registered one Second Team vote as a rookie.

Of course, Thybulle was highly touted as a defensive star after winning the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award in 2019 at Washington. He finished 16th in steals last season and was tied for third this year with 105 in just 20 minutes per game.
