It is another summer weekend in the NFL offseason and we are one day closer to the start of the 2024 season and the Arizona Cardinals’ regular-season opener. They will take the field at Highmark Stadium on the road to face the Buffalo Bills in 71 days from today, a Saturday.
Offensive lineman Dennis Daley is the Cardinals’ current No. 71. He has not yet made any real impact as he enters his second year with the team.
Last season, he began the season on injured reserve with an ankle injury he suffered in the preseason finale. He appeared in three games and started one at left guard, one of four players to start there.
The last No. 71 to have any reasonable impact was the guy before Daley — offensive lineman Justin Murray.
He played for the Cardinals from 2019-2021 after he was claimed off waivers. He had previously bounced around the league four three years.
He became a starter quickly. In 2019, he started 12 games at right tackle. The next year, he played more guard, starting seven games.
He suffered a back injury that he never really recovered from and played only three games in 2021. Since then, he played in nine games over two seasons for the Bills and Titans.
But he was a solid starter when they needed him for about a year and a half.
We will be back tomorrow with another countdown post as we approach the season.
