Trade of the season?
The cherry on top for that powerful defense might’ve been Minkah Fitzpatrick. The safety was acquired for a first-round pick when the Steelers were 0-3 via the Dolphins. Many thought the Steelers were giving up a top-10 pick and that’s simply not going to be the case for the young defender still on his rookie deal.
So far this season, Fitzpatrick is in a tie for the league-lead in interceptions with five and is Pro Football Focus’ fifth-best graded safety in the league thus far. There’s almost no doubt about it, once the Steelers got Fitzpatrick, things clicked on defense and against all quarterback odds/ issues, they might crack the postseason.
