At Ducks Wire, we are primarily a website concerned with college athletics. We focus mostly on what happens throughout Eugene, and a decent portion of the west coast with the Pac-12.
However, when some of the best athletes to come through Oregon go on to do great things at the professional level, we certainly take notice and develop fandoms for their new teams. That’s why you have seen a number of Los Angeles Chargers jerseys being sold throughout Duck Stores around town, and why a new shipment of Atlanta Falcons jerseys will soon be on the way.
With Justin Herbert and Marcus Mariota now leading their respective teams, the blue and gold, and black and red have found a home in Eugene.
When it comes to Herbert, though, it may be hard to find an athlete who Oregon fans are more proud of. After growing up in Eugene and finding success at Sheldon High School, Herbert went on to bring a Rose Bowl victory to the Ducks, and he is now one of the most promising up-and-coming quarterbacks in the NFL. It’s safe to say that Duck fans are pretty protective of him, and hoping hard for his continued success at the next level.
With that being said, we obviously have an opinion on what the Chargers can best do in the upcoming draft to give him some weapons on offense or add to the protection in front of him. The Chargers have the 17th pick in the draft, and with those two needs in mind, these are the players who we most want to see land in LA this spring to help out Eugene’s favorite son.
