Beane likely next

Speaking of Milano, the defender and general manager himself, are the next two on the list of guys the Bills have to get under new contracts. Of those two, signs point to Beane’s extension coming next.

It was a priority for the Bills to extend White before the regular season begins. The team and player wanted to remain focused on the task at-hand on the field as the 2020 regular season begins. It’s reasonable to expect the situation with Milano to go the same way, especially considering all that 2021 talk we just had.

While White did have a contract for 2021 before his extension was signed, Milano doesn’t. There’s no way around it, the Bills have to factor in a large sum for their linebacker under next year’s cap if the team re-signs him. And remember, we’re not even sure what the salary cap is going to be, making it even more unlikely Milano gets re-signed until after this upcoming season.

But guess who isn’t playing games? Not that Beane doesn’t have a job to do during the season, he certainly does, but it’d be a great mid-week story during the regular season if the Bills locked him up at some point. Heck, if the squad loses two games in a row, what better way to hype up the players than announcing the general manager’s extension? Seriously, the players love him too.

Earlier this offseason, McDermott inked his new deal which goes through the 2025 season, it’s very reasonable to expect the same to happen with Beane. But the point here being, a betting man would pick Beane’s extension to come before Milano’s.
