A bit worrisome, too

But there could be some reason to groan too. McDermott has been very good in tabbing defensive back talent for his team. He hasn’t been flawless, though. In fact, in the realm that Norman falls under, McDermott’s done a so, so job.

When looking at cornerbacks McDermott has brought to Buffalo, he’s almost unblemished in regard to  younger prospects. There’s White and Taron Johnson via the draft, plus Wallace through his undrafted rookie status.

Then in free agency, Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer signed with the Bills at ages 27 and 25, respectively. That’s by no means grizzled vet status. Plenty left in the tank.

Where McDermott has fallen short is realizing players might not be what they used to be. Many expected Vontae Davis to work out and boy did that not happen. EJ Gaines wasn’t over the hill in terms of age (27), but in regard to his injury history, unfortunately he kind of was very banged up.

Norman’s been pretty healthy throughout his career and hasn’t missed significant time due to injury since 2013. But in that same thought, he did just turn 32.
