In Dawkins, the Bills finally put their money where their words are. Buffalo’s front office, led by head coach McDermott and Beane, always touts keeping their own guys. Work hard, show results, and you’ll get money from the Bills, essentially is their motto. Well with Dawkins, this proves it.
And don’t think this is something that’s overlooked by players. After signing on the dotted line, Dawkins himself mentioned this exact thing via video conference. He essentially sent a message saying this team proved they’re not joking around.
“First, it shows a lot of respect to coach McDermott and the organization as a whole. Because once again, they are big on what they preach… and if they’re going to walk around here and speak on, ‘We’re going to take care of our players, trust the process’… This just show they’re not B.S. They mean exactly what they say and are doing exactly what they say and I’m just glad, once again, that I’m part of it,” Dawkins said.
This is going to be important to future free agent signings, draft picks, and even guys already on their own roster. While not their personal long-term deals, Milano and White are happy to see this happen.
