Continuity on line
One thing the Bills always preach is continuity all over their roster and especially along the offensive line. The Bills want to keep the chemistry in place as long as possible there because the hope is that this will help the O-line, as an entire unit, improve, year-to-year. Thus far, the Bills have been an average unit by NFL standards. It’s a much better group than in 2018 after Richie Incognito and Eric Wood both surprisingly retired, but average. PFF ranks the Bills the 18th best offensive line heading into next season. It’s a slight improvement from their end-of-season number in 2019, the 21st best group.
So in this same light of slight improvements, maybe the Bills are going to continue trending this way? The pieces are in place for an attempt at that, anyway.
Dawkins is now signed through the 2024 season. Including the upcoming campaign, the Bills will have Quinton Spain, Mitch Morse and Cody Ford all under contract for at least the next three seasons. This is a smart idea by the Bills.
