6 storylines to follow during Bills vs. Ravens

Six storlyines for the Buffalo Bills vs. Baltimore Ravens during the NFL’s Week 14 slate.

Can the Bills keep the running game a factor?

A big part of Buffalo’s potential success against the Ravens could come via the rushing attack, though. The Ravens are a tad bit of a liability there. Currently their pass defense ranks No. 13 in the NFL, allowing 228.5 yards per game. However, they have some studs out there in that secondary, such as Early Thomas III and Marcus Peters. Pro Football ranks them the No. 14 safety and fifth-best cornerback in the NFL, respectively.

But why run? Sure, the Ravens’ run defense is actually ranked better, the No. 6 team defending the run in the NFL, averaging 94.9 yards allowed per game there. But teams are often trailing the Ravens and have to pass the ball a lot. The Ravens face an average of 20.9 attempts per game, the least in the NFL. Baltimore also allowed 4.5 yards per carry, the second-most in the top-10 run defenses in the NFL. And their 11 allow touchdowns on the ground is tied for the second-most allowed in the NFL’s top-10 run defenses. In fact, the Ravens have allowed more scores on the ground (11) than in the air (10).

If Devin Singletary and Frank Gore and remain relevant in this one, it could be big in terms of putting points on the board and keeping the Ravens offense off the field.
