OL Cody Ford
Cody Ford was the team’s starting right tackle last season. However, Ford split snaps with veteran Ty Nsekhe on multiple occasions until the vet was injured. This was beneficial for the Bills and Ford in multiple ways. First, it gave the team an experienced option in case Ford was over his head with certain pass rushers. It also gave the rookie a mentor to help with the mental side of the game, as both players would focus exclusively on the same position.
In his second year, Ford will look to take total command of the right tackle spot. With a year of experience under his belt, Ford needs to show greater consistency and fulfill his second-round draft status from last year.
On a slightly related note, left tackle Dion Dawkins enters the final year of his contract. If Dawkins commands a large salary ahead of free agency, there’s a thought that Ford could make the move to the left side in two years. That’s a long way off, but there’s no reason to ignore this possibility.
