Instant impact by some young guns
There is a lot to complain about in this one and I’ll get to that on part five of these five takeaways. However, number four has to be praise for the young guns in this one.
Chris Tyree is as quick and fast as advertised. He may have only gotten six touches offensively in this one but showed he has the body to compete at this level. Expect that six to grow in the coming weeks.
Michael Mayer. Uhh, how is this young man only 18 years old? It’s one thing to watch a guys tape and see him dominate against high school players. It’s another to see this 6-5 freak of nature turn into a match-up nightmare late for Duke. Mayer doesn’t jump off the stat sheet at you but you can see why he was the nation’s top tight end and so desired a year ago. He’ll be a problem for opponents for years to come.
Isaiah Foskey is a sophomore but was a monster today. He wasn’t quite the best defensive player on the field for Notre Dame today but he wasn’t far off as it felt like he was constantly getting pressures to make Chase Brice’s day difficult.
