Thoughts on Brian Daboll
Finally, Brian Daboll. Speculation insists that Buffalo’s offensive coordinator could be a candidate for head coaching opportunities in the NFL as early as this upcoming offseason. But that’s just rumor, is he actually going to be?
Beane gave some quick insight into what he thinks… and simply put, yes, it sounds like Beane thinks the Bills will lose Daboll, maybe sooner rather than later.
“I’m a big fan and I have no doubt, when he gets his opportunity… we want to keep him selfishly, but that’s the way this work so I’m sure he’ll do great,” Beane said. “I think Brian, when his number is called, he’s going to do that for whatever organization it is.”
Beane added what he liked about Daboll in terms of his future coaching prospects, too. Daboll’s experience stands out.
“Brian is a people person,” the GM said. “Positive energy, he’s very smart, great experience, he’s done it at the highest level. Obviously he’s won in New England, went down in college and won, and came back here.”
In terms of thinking Daboll’s going to get a job offer, one has to believe that Beane’s going to be preparing for that and already might be. Is a potential replacement in-house? Someone else in the NFL? We won’t know that, but we do know that Beane has his ear to the wall, so him personally sounding like Daboll could be out the door soon is noteworthy.
