Studs
LB Matt Milano
In terms of snaps played, Matt Milano had a good trend there, playing another slight uptick upon his second game back from injured reserve. With that increase, Milano also played great.
It’s hard to bring Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger down, but he did just that… a couple of times. Milano had a sack and two QB hits. Milano also had a pass defended and two tackles to really solidify his well-rounded effort.
CB Levi Wallace
Compared to Milano, Levi Wallace actually went in the opposite direction. He was in a rotation at the No. 2 cornerback spot and played less than Josh Norman in that split. However, aside from being beat for a touchdown, Wallace was lock down and had a game-sealing interception. Taron Johnson did have himself a pick-six, but was beaten a few times out of the slot and then was injured (concussion), leaving him on the cusp of stud status.
RT Daryl Williams
Believe it or not, Daryl Williams saw his PFF grade on the season increase after facing the Steelers, from 75.7 to 76.5. That’s remarkable considering he had a big test against Steelers pass rusher TJ Watt, who entered the game as PFF’s top-ranked edge defender in the NFL.
WR Stefon Diggs
What explanation is needed here? Not much. Stefon Diggs had 10 catches for 130 yards and a touchdown in perhaps his best game of the year. PFF also graded him very highly, a 87.9 single-game mark, the highest grade passed out to any player on the Bills offense vs. the Steelers.
DT Harrison Phillips
Harrison Phillips’ addition to this list is a bit remarkable in its own right as well. Phillips played in less snaps than any of Buffalo’s defensive tackles but stood out multiple times. He held James Conner to only a couple of yards on running plays that potentially could’ve gone for big gainers with some good play in the trenches.
