Where is the running game?
While we won’t be viewing starters for much of the game, there’s still a few schematic things and what not to look for. Against the Patriots on offense, Josh Allen was spotty as usual, but the run game was really suffocated.
Running back Devin Singletary played almost the entire game. Frank Gore only saw a handful of snaps and no carries. Singletary only had 15 carries for 46 yards for Buffalo. His long carry was 12 yards, so that leaves only 34 yards on 14 other carries which is not good at all. His offensive line deserves some blame here as well, it wasn’t all on the rookie.
Things won’t get any easier this week against the Jets, since they’re not a bad defense. Specifically, their run defense, ranks at the second-best in the NFL. A good test for the Bills offense heading into the postseason.
NY JETS are leading the NFL in RUN DEFENSE holding opponents to 78 yards per game and just 3.0 per carry. It’s the PENETRATION of the FRONT through the BLOCKERS (not the gap) which is effect … they try to knock the blockers back into the runner the pursuit converges. pic.twitter.com/IcXgITG3Nw
