Can a Bills’ playmaker step up?

Throughout the entire 2019 season, the Bills have seemingly had the same consistency on offense. Each game, one guy steps up. It’s usually never an “all hands on deck” type of game. So with that, who’s going to be the guy against the Texans?

The Texans have four cornerbacks who’ve kept a passer rating below the league average this year, per Texans Wire, but their pass defense still ranks as the fourth-worst group. They’ve allowed 267.2 yards per game this season. Against the run, a bit better, but still at No. 25, allowing 121.1 yards per game.

This game could read as a Devin Singletary type of game. While the Texans’ pass defense hasn’t been great, the reason why has plenty to do with their pass rush. This week, they’ll get TJ Watt back. He only played in eight games this year and had four sacks, but he still grades as PFF’s fourth-best edge defender this year. He’s a elite player and can change the game himself. Watt’s done that against the Bills in his career, in fact. Singletary could neutralize Watt and the game clock quickly if the Bills get ahead early.

Buckle up, Bills fans.
