5 quick facts about new Cowboys DT Neville Gallimore

Here are five facts about defensive tackle Neville Gallimore, who the Dallas Cowboys drafted in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

After taking an offensive player on the first day of the draft, the Dallas Cowboys needed to address their defense on Day 2. The defensive line was a position they needed to look into and they came away with Oklahoma DT Neville Gallimore.

Here are some things you might not know about the Cowboys’ newest defensive tackle:

He’s from Canada

Gallimore was born in Ottowa, Ontario, Canada and was the first Canadian to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in 2015. He played high school football for Canada Prep Academy, a school built for grooming football players.

He received 30 scholarship offers

Gallimore received offers from some of the elite college football programs despite playing north of the border. Ohio State, Oregon, USC and Florida State all were among those vying for Gallimore, who eventually singed with Oklahoma.

Gallimore recorded a sack in each of his four seasons he played

After redshirting his first year for the Sooners, Gallimore recorded one sack apiece in his first two years, three sacks in his junior season and set a career high with four in 2019. He also brought some impressive pressure from the interior of the defensive line.

He improved each season

Gallimore didn’t become a full-time starter until his third season and his play got better as his career went on. His senior season saw Gallimore not only have his highest sack output, but he had career highs in tackles for a loss with 6.5, and forced fumbles, with two.

Gallimore is already in the Dallas area

The Cowboys have been known to draft players from the big name schools, as well as players from places surrounding the Texas area. Playing at Oklahoma fit the bill, but Gallimore has also been training in Frisco, Texas.
