5 of the most memorable Christmas Day performances by a rookie player

With a new crop of players set to play, Rookie Wire took a look at some of the best Christmas Day performances by rookie players.

2003: LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers

In his first of 14 Christmas Day appearances (including Wednesday), James dazzled for the Cavaliers against the Orlando Magic.

The matchup featured two of the best individual performances as Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady scored 41 points to lead the Magic past the Cavaliers in overtime.

For his part, James recorded 34 points, six assists, two steals and one blocked shot for the third-highest-scoring effort by a rookie on Christmas Day in history.

As previously mentioned, James is third on the all-time Christmas Day scoring list and is also second in field goals made. His 14th appearance on Wednesday will be the second most, behind Kobe Bryant’s 16.
