The 2019 season was truly an unfortunate one for Bills defensive tackle Harrison Phillips. While in-line to perhaps take over for Kyle Williams, the Bills added Ed Oliver to the mix. Out of the gate in his second season, Phillips looked really good, though. In two games he recorded half a sack and batted away two passes. He was a force. But in his third game, a season-ending knee injury derailed everything.

Looking at the 2020 roster, the Bills have plenty more competition for Phillips, even if Jordan Phillips departed via free agency. Quinton Jefferson and Vernon Butler were added to a group that also includes Star Lotulelei and Oliver. Vincent Taylor is also in the mix, too.

Phillips has to show he’s fully recovered from his knee injury and that he won’t miss a beat in the rotation the Bills run along their defensive line. In those two and parts of a third game that Phillips played in last season, he recorded a 83.2 overall grade from PFF, which was among the best in the NFL when he went down.
