5 Instant Takeaways from No. 3 Notre Dame’s win at Pitt

Notre Dame got bad injury news earlier in the week but came out firing on almost all cylinders in their rout of Pittsburgh. Takeaways here.

Foskey Wow-Wow

If Isaiah Foskey went to Illinois, they’d start calling blocked punts “Foskey Wow-Wows”.

OK, for the six people that got that awful joke, you’re welcome.  For the rest of you – my most sincere apologies.  Your refund check is in the mail.

Foskey has played in all of nine games for Notre Dame and in that time has found a way to already block a pair of punts as his latest resulted in a touchdown just before halftime.

Credit is also due to Brian Polian for the play design that helped Foskey get to the Pitt punter untouched and extend the lead.

His blocked punt against Stanford last November turned the entire tide of that contest while his blocked punt today wasn’t the difference between a win and loss but was more stellar play from a young man who is off to a fantastic start in 2020.

For good measure Foskey added a sack in the second half of Saturday’s win, his third of the season.
